Johnny Darrell Starling Jr. has been playing baseball for most of his life and coaching for most of his adult life. Johnny is a Florida native and a graduate of Winter Haven High School class of 1990 where he played for Coach David Saliba. He has been coaching baseball for many years and stared to coach travel ball in 1999. He coached Ronnie Richards from 1999-2002 who eventually went on to play for the Padres Organization.
Johnny has taken 2 teams to Cooperstown New York where they both finished in the top 35 teams out of 104 total teams for the week. Johnny has also taken a team to the Baseball Majors in Vero Beach Florida where they finished 3rd for the tournament. He has also coached travel ball teams that have gone to State tournaments where they have been the runner up three times.
Johnny’s love for the game and his desire to help students to achieve academic success and the possibility of a career for baseball drove him to purchase Florida Baseball Academy in 2015.
Florida Baseball Academy is an indoor batting facility in Lake Wales Florida that offers private hitting, pitching and catching lessons along with team practice. Johnny believes that success is not measured in wins or loses but success is measured in the skills that are learned. He believes in respect for coaches, players and yourself, teamwork and hard work. These are the lessons that he has tried to instill in all of his players and believed that this will lead to success on and off the athletic fields.
Cody Christopher Warren – a member of two State Championship contender teams at Orangewood Christian School – hit the 79th home run to break the Florida High School State record for home runs by a team in a single season- Received 13 college scholarship offers out of high school, including several Division 1 schools, as well as a full appointment to The Naval Academy- Accepted a full-ride scholarship to Christian Brothers University- 2012 Pre-Season DII All-American- 2012 Academic All-American - 2012 GSC Runner-Up Freshman Player of the Year- 2013 Florida Collegiate Summer League All Star- Finished career at Webber International University after being affected by transferring rules- 2015 Pre-Season TSC All-Conference Team- 2015 TSC All Star - 2015 NAIA Academic All-American- Career cut short from three herniated disks after receiving several offers to further his career- Masters of Business Administration with a focus in International Business along with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management with a Minor in Marketing- Mentored by David and Rick Eckstein
